The Gift of Encouragement

Every week, Express Yourself!™ will bring you a stimulating program based on a chapter from our award winning book Be the Star You Are!® for Teens. (http://starstyleradio.net/Store.html

Encouragement is the gift of caring and kindness. Without encouragement and support from at least one dedicated cheerleader, it’s difficult to succeed in life. Hosts Henna Hundal and Asya Gonzalez read The Gift of Encouragement penned by Billijo Doll from Cynthia Brian’s book, Be the Star You Are! for Teens, then discuss how encouragement has made the difference in their lives. Katelyn Darrow shares how she began she charity, Angels of God Clothing Closet at age 12 with the encouragement of friends and family. Broadcast veteran Paul Sladkus joins the conversation from a Willy Nelson concert in Brooklyn to shed light on good news and peace. Paul is involved with sharing the Good of the people of the world.  He created www.goodnewsplanet.com for people to share their stories and events in their lives.  And he organized the www.peacedayparty.org to help strengthen the message of the United Nations for the International Day of Peace on September 21.  Paul is an optimist that with encouragement and positivity, we can achieve peace and harmony in our world.

  • Close your eyes and think of ways to encourage the people in your life.
  • Compliment someone every day.
  • Practice saying: “Yes, I believe you can do it.”
  • Look for ways and times to tell people good things about themselves.
  • Try to get creative with ways to encourage.
  • Do not give up on your own dreams.
  • Help someone achieve their dreams.
  • Write a list of ten doable and ten impossible dreams (hide the list for a couple of years).

When you decide to do your best every day, your life will be filled with unexpected encouragement and joy.  Reach out and share a bit of encouragement. It could make all the difference.

Let the sun shine on yourself and others.

“Flatter me, and I may not believe you.

Criticize me, and I may not like you.

Ignore me, and I may not forgive you.

Encourage me, and I may not forget you.”

— William Arthur
